In my blog post dated November 7th of last year, I shared my experience of shopping to find suitable bras to fit my blessings. Soon after I started seeing these ads on social media about a bra that added lift without bone support and had a wide back to accommodate and slim down the back section, so to speak.
My goodly friend secured a link and after much deliberation about sizing I chose a size and we ordered. Things didn’t go as planned and the order was delayed but then another small business advertised their visit to our island and I jumped at the chance to get a first-hand experience with sizing and getting the best fit possible.
If it is one thing I understand as a woman is that companies would never fit you properly or make items for us that actually get our proportions perfectly. I took my daughter along, she was appalled that women actually change and get bra fittings and people see your parts, lol. It was hilarious, because after having 3 children, what is shame really?
I realized with the fitting that my cup size and back size do not coincide. To get the best cup size fit I would risk a slack bra fitting, to get a tighter fit with my back there is going to be slippage.
Loose or spillage? What was it going to be? So I chose a tighter fit with the possibility of me losing a few pounds so my blessings would sit right in the cups.
Fast forward to the present day. I ended up with 3 black bras. I mean who can go wrong with a black bra, but these bras are not for fancy wear they are for everyday jamming at work, when you are attired in clothing that is ‘normal’.
So my honest opinion:
In terms of comfort as it relates to the straps, totally yes. The heaviness of your blessings do not cause the straps to dig into your shoulders and leave marks. The downside to these straps, during the day they readjust themselves. So at times, I would feel pretty strange, so I have to return to the washroom area and readjust the straps. They keep moving downwards, which is not good for support. The straps are thick, so you can’t wear them with spaghetti-strap clothing.
No underwire discomfort. Now I love my underwires. I have never dreamt of wearing a bra which didn’t have one, except at home when I want to be as comfortable and unrestraint as possible and then I opt for nothing at all, but I digress. The engineering with the no underwire is genius. The downside is there is a wire frame to the side of the bra, I guess this is for controlling side boob action which it does not. The frame is not sturdy, nor does it run from top to bottom, there is a little space in the side which causes it to move and it curves to your body. Those of the petite persuasion I am sure would not mind this little issue but for those of us carrying the weight of the blessings around, it is definitely not flattering. I don’t like the box look. I do not get my sleek fit that I am accustomed getting with other bras. Nobody has to know that I have more than my share. Seriously.
The back of the bra does exactly what they say it would do. Very smooth look, no bulging below the arm or anything like that. It keeps everything perfectly smooth and sleek. Not much of a downside to the back, but when I have to keep readjusting the straps and sides I also must pull down the back of the bra.
Overall fit, It gets the job done. I have long days and even though the fit isn’t as sexy as it is advertised to be, because they have ads with slim ladies while advertising for big girl issues, it functions. When going out I now have to return to the bra store and get me a bra that can now suit the needs of the clothing I have. Some times no straps, etc.
I am not back at square one though, I think these 3 bras would give me a life time of service for work days and I can invest in cuter pieces for those once in a while pieces of clothing for special occasions. No regrets in spending my money, if you do not get it then how would you know. I think going to a bra fitting is one thing but it is only when you begin wearing the bra for hours you truly get a sense of how it actually works.
I’ve had them a month now and I intend to review them in 6 months time for a wear and tear review.
Thanks so much for tuning in, there is so much more fun reads in store. Stay connected.
Yea I know it but I not sure if the one I have had so many all over inside.
Interesting post. The inside of mine don't have all those hole thingys though. Will check again but I doubt. Glad generally its a good bra and fit for you, with the exception of a few flaws.
